Taylor Blackburn – English Language Arts Instructor

Taylor was born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia and first moved to the Charlottesville area when she attended the University of Virginia where she earned a B.A. in English and a Masters in Teaching.  She has a decade of experience as an English, Creative Writing, and Drama teacher at the middle and high school levels. In addition to teaching students with diverse backgrounds and abilities, she has taken her instruction beyond the classroom walls, directing poetry slams, Shakespeare plays, and writing workshops—all with the goal of helping students develop one of their most important assets: their voice.  Outside of school, whether driving across Canada for her honeymoon, camping for a summer in Ireland to participate in a natural building workshop, or drinking water fresh from a coconut in the Philippines, Taylor embraces travel as one of the best forms of education.  Taylor is returning to education this year after a hiatus to parent her son Eamon, and she is excited to be a part of the eclectic and compassionate learning community at the Park School.
