Hope Levien – Admissions Director
Hope was born in Charlottesville, Virginia and attended Stony Point Elementary School. When she was 10, her family moved to Cleveland, Ohio. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the Ohio State University. She attended graduate school at John Carroll University in Cleveland where she earned a Masters Degree in Education. Hope taught English and Language Arts in the Cleveland Public Charter School system before moving to Washington, DC where she continued to teach middle school and high school English. After 4 years of teaching and working in after school programs for at risk youth, she returned to the Cleveland area and began working on her degree in special education. For the past three years, she has been a special education teacher in Cleveland but decided to return to her birthplace. She is thrilled to be back in Charlottesville and a part of The Park School!
Brooke McCoy – School Director
Brooke was born and raised in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. She completed her general education at Westside High School in West Virginia. After receiving top honors, Brooke went on to complete her Bachelors of Science in Secondary Social Studies Education and Bachelors of Art in Political Science at Concord University. She minored in Special Education, Spanish, and International Studies. In 2014, Brooke completed her Master of Arts in History with an emphasis in Military History at Norwich University of Vermont. Brooke has a special education endorsement and has worked in both the private and public sector. Throughout college, Brooke worked with the Federal Americorps Program as a teacher for underprivileged students in West Virginia. Brooke was also a very active member of the Epsilon Delta chapter of Delta Zeta. Most recently Brooke taught as a home school instructor in Fluvanna County. In addition to working at Park School she also offers specialized after school lessons ranging from Mathematics, Social Sciences, Languages, and specialized instruments. Brooke is very excited to be working with Park School and hopes to help expand and enrich the community as well as students.
David Woodward – Math & Science Lead Instructor
Our math and science teacher, David Woodward most recently taught Algebra 1 (8th grade) and Honors (6th grade) math at Jouett Middle School. He has taught math in both honors, advanced and Special Education classrooms at Albemarle High School, and the Community Public Charter School. He has a gift for working with struggling learners. David received his BA in Math and Religion from Oberlin College and has a Masters Degree in Religious Studies from UVa. He holds a Virginia Provisional License to teach math. David currently lives in Charlottesville. He loves to play board games with his wife and two daughters.
Jay Pun – Music Instructor
Jay is Park School’s Music Instructor. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a B.M. in Professional Music. He performs professionally playing guitar in a duo with violinist Morwenna Lasko. The two record & tour the country performing their original music. Together, they both founded Fingerdance Studio, a private music studio, teaching guitar & violin to all ages (located at the Park School). Outside of music, Jay loves to make hot sauce, go out for sushi, and hang out with his two dogs (Dachshund/Beagle/Coonhound and a Hungarian Vizsla).
